Staff Software Development Engineer - Java

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Perform impact analysis, design, and code construction activities for software releases related to CVS Retail Pharmacy systems.
• Partner and collaborate with development managers, business analysts, architects, QA, business partners, developers, and project managers to deliver business change and innovation.
• Participate throughout the entire development lifecycle of a product to deliver efficient solutions.
• Identify and properly mitigate risks associated with product deployment to production.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications.
• 7+ years of experience with backend development in Java-based technologies.
• 7+ years of experience working in cloud-based technologies using frameworks like Spring, Springboot, Kafka, Redis.
• 7+ years hands-on system design experience with mission-critical applications.
• 5+ years of experience with Azure, GCP or other public cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SaaS application development/support, CI/CD practices, containerization, Kubernetes, and Agile/DevOps methodologies.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Rally, or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Nice to Have

• 10+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications.
• 3+ years of experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain.
• Master's Degree.
• Experience working with Monolithic as well as Microservices based systems.
• Extensive experience with building and driving adoption of software engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures.
• Mastery of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
• Command of architecture, design, and business processes.
• Passion for innovation, with a customer-centric mindset.
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple time zones and geographies.
• Ability to influence and inspire teams to align technical direction.
• Ability to create and execute innovation roadmaps.
• Ability to learn and work with emerging technologies and methodologies in Cloud/IT.
