About the Role

GE Aerospace is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to work on Network Operations, an advanced suite of digital solutions for commercial airlines designed to manage and mitigate disruptions. The role involves developing high-quality, scalable software products that help the aerospace industry improve passenger satisfaction, reduce costs, and achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the product development backlog in collaboration with the global development and product team, including development of features and user stories prioritized by Product Management.
  • Deliver commitments on time while coordinating with the team to identify the best solutions for customers.
  • Practice Agile Software Development practices for all tasks.
  • Represent high-quality design and development practices as a member of the global product engineering team.
  • Develop high-performing, scalable, and innovative commercial software products for the aerospace industry.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, DevOps, security, and software engineers to implement solutions aligned with shared platforms.
  • Apply principles of CI/CD, software and product security, scalability, documentation, refactoring, and testing.
  • Develop code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the selected technology.
  • Assess application performance and optimize through design and best coding practices.
  • Work on core data structures and algorithms using the language of choice.
  • Make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment.
  • Understand the whole product, its modules, and their interrelationships, while being an expert in assigned components.
  • Work with Product Line Leaders and customers to understand product requirements and vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM majors.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns, and Java coding principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Integration, Data).
  • Experience in microservice architecture and full stack development.
  • Development experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and non-relational databases like NoSQL and Redis.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks and libraries, Angular experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of code repository/version control processes and dependency management.
  • Experience with Azure services (Blobstore, Eventhub, Servicebus).
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing applications with real-time systems.
  • Deployment, dependency management, and version control experience.
  • Hands-on experience with platform and configuration management using Spring Boot.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks like JUnit and Test Driven Development.

  • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems.
  • Ability to articulate technical topics and assignments clearly.
  • Leadership skills, including influencing others and removing project obstacles.
  • Experience in problem solving and estimating development tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global teams across time zones.
  • Mentoring and delegation skills.
