Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver complex software solutions in the field of data collection, processing, reporting, and dashboarding.
• Maintain the existing codebase, develop new features, and evolve the architecture to meet growing scalability needs.
• Work in the JVM technology stack, using Java 21, Spring Boot 3, Kotlin, gRPC, and OpenAPI.
• Leverage Google Cloud Platform (GKE, BigQuery) and Cloudflare (e.g., Workers) on the platform side.
• Develop new ideas about the overall system architecture and communicate them effectively to engineering and product teams.
• Collaborate with international teams across different time zones and occasionally travel internationally.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a software development role with long-term product ownership, such as a lead software engineer or software architect.
• Hands-on experience in software development, ideally in a SaaS product within a cloud environment.
• Experience with data-intensive applications is a strong advantage.
• Understanding of API-first design, using technologies like OpenAPI and gRPC.
• Familiarity with JVM technologies (Java/Kotlin) and cloud platforms (GCP, Cloudflare).
• Ability to stay current on best practices and new technologies with a critical assessment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with proficiency in Dutch considered an advantage.
