About the Role

Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to join our team to build out the next generation of crypto-forward products and features. Our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world by building the emerging onchain platform and the future global financial system. The role involves solving large-scale, complex technical problems, bridging web-scale applications and blockchain technology, and making cryptocurrency accessible to everyone globally. The work culture is intense and collaborative, with a focus on building the future alongside high-caliber colleagues. In-person participation is required throughout the year, with team and company-wide offsites held multiple times annually.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and develop distributed systems
Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by every engineering team in production (e.g., notifications service, deferred deep-linking, SEO services)
Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers

Requirements

At least 8+ years of experience in software engineering
Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together

Nice to Have

Experience launching new products from 0 to 1
Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks
Experience with Blockchain technology (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)
Familiarity with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB
Built fintech, highly reliable and/or secure systems
Crypto-forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services
