Key Responsibilities

Using appropriate style guides and good editorial decision-making skills, the technical editor will be responsible for checking grammar, spelling, and formatting.
Evaluating the overall editorial quality of each written deliverable.
Offering advice to authors on formatting, organization, writing style, and other issues when deliverables are being prepared.
Ensuring that documents reflect company policy and style, meet client-specific requirements, and include required elements.
Verifying that text and graphics conform to visual requirements, are clear, and presented effectively.
Ensuring that the document is complete and comprehensible, including contents, lists of tables, figures, abbreviations, appendices, header and footer, and page numbering are in order and accurate.
Working collaboratively with other technical editors to schedule editorial reviews, create engaging materials to promote good technical report authoring, and assist EA employees with technical editing and formatting questions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in English or science-related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in technical editing and formatting technical documentation; OR Associate's degree in English or related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in technical editing and formatting technical documentation.
Good technical writing skills to help identify issues with clarity and suggest rework of text as appropriate.
Strong Microsoft Suite skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience using Word templates and built-in styles.
Experience with Adobe products; strong pdf compilation skills and preference for InDesign skills.
Experience managing coauthoring efforts in SharePoint.
High level of attention to detail.
Good time management skills.
Ability to work both independently and with a team to meet deadlines.

Nice to Have

Experience with technical documents in the environmental field, particularly site investigation, characterization, and remediation.
Section 508 compliance experience.

Qualifications
