About the Role

Maxar is seeking a Technical Team Lead for their 3D R&D team in Herndon, VA. The role involves leading a team and developing software for creating a 'Globe in 3D' based on satellite imagery. The company specializes in high-quality 3D geodata derived from commercial satellite images, supporting applications in navigation, security, defense, and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of software developers and act as a software developer within the team.
Work in agile teams with algorithm development in various programming languages including C, C++, Go, Python, Javascript, and Rust, mainly in a Linux environment.
Engage in stakeholder dialogue to transform requirements into products.
Participate in the production of the Globe in 3D from satellite images, utilizing satellite archives and HPC technologies.
Contribute to image processing and computer vision challenges such as stereo algorithms, mesh and voxel processing, georegistration of images and video sequences in real time.
Oversee activities related to the development and deployment of 3D data creation and export processes used by operators.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen with the ability to apply for and hold a US Government Secret National Security Clearance.
MS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, signal processing, or related area.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware architectures.
Solid understanding of operating systems concepts.
Knowledge of complex data structures.
Familiarity with memory management and memory layout.
Skilled in process concurrency, including processes/threads and synchronization.
Proficiency in C and C++.
Experience with Go programming language.
Experience working in a Linux environment.
Algorithm development experience.

Nice to Have

Experience in image processing.
System design for software products.
Understanding of sensor calibration and sensor models.
Machine Learning experience.
Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Ansible.
Microservice architecture experience.
Database management skills.
Knowledge of geodata.
Cyber security expertise.
Experience with Vulkan.
Recent experience with Python.
Knowledge of Computer Vision and Remote Sensing.
Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Familiarity with aerial navigation systems.
Experience with Git/GitLab.
Test Automation skills.
Embedded systems experience.
Experience porting software to different Linux systems.

Qualifications

MS degree in a relevant technical field.
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in related areas.
