Technology Director: Data Platform Operations

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
• Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
• Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
• Provide a consistent operating model across all the on-prem and cloud platforms
• Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
• Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
• Automate all the repeatable tasks across all the on-prem and cloud platforms
• Proactively build and promote adoption of the Enterprise Pipeline including automated testing and CI/CD
• Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
• Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
• Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
• Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
• Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
• Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
• Lead team to achieve objectives
• Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
• Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
• Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
• Provide production support for data technology applications, assets, and tools/platforms, including vulnerability management, minor development efforts (bug-fix), process monitoring
• Oversee infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, and upgrades
• Manage incident processes including triage, root-cause analysis, stakeholder communication, and preventative solutions
• Plan and execute release management, including validation of controls and architecture requirements
• Manage test environments, code promotions, and data preparation

Requirements

• 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
• 4+ years of management or leadership experience
• 5+ years of technology delivery or support

Nice to Have

• 5+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry
• 5+ years of direct experience with data tools and platforms
• 3+ years of experience with management of cloud platforms
• Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices
• Certifications in Azure, AWS, or relevant data platforms
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data lifecycle management
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage numerous, competing demands
• Ownership mentality with an ability to design and drive successful execution of priorities
• Ability to manage in a matrixed organization environment
• Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
• Ability to positively influence, motivate, and direct teams
