About the Role

The Associate Creative Director (Design & Art Direction) is responsible for leading the development of high-impact, 360-degree marketing campaigns across digital, social, print, and in-store channels. This role partners closely with copy and creative leads to drive seasonal campaigns like Back to College and Holiday, ensuring strategic alignment and creative excellence. The position requires a conceptual thinker with strong leadership skills, a sharp eye for design, and experience managing teams and agency partners in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role is part of Walmart Creative Studio, an in-house creative agency focused on developing distinctive omnichannel brand design systems that meet customer needs and drive business objectives while keeping Walmart relevant in culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ideate, create, and execute high-volume, time-sensitive 360 campaign creative across all channels (owned & paid).
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, ops teams, integrated strategy, and external agencies to ensure creative cohesion at every touchpoint and successful campaign delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of compelling brand narratives and messaging frameworks that differentiate Walmart and resonate with customers during seasonal moments.
  • Build trust and effective relationships with key partners in a large, highly matrixed organization.
  • Develop creative leadership and marketing pitch decks to gain alignment and set the team up for success.
  • Manage projects, growth, and development of mid and junior level creatives.
  • Manage projects that are on-brief and on-brand, mitigating feedback, and ensuring workstreams stay on track from inception to completion.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, culture, and consumer behaviors to inform creative decisions.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and craft throughout the conceptual and execution process.
  • Oversee production shoots as needed, working effectively with directors, DPs, editors, mixers, etc., to ensure quality standards.
  • Design assets and brand campaigns as needed.
  • Manage team and high-profile projects from inception to completion, prioritizing and turning around creative concepts in an iterative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in professional advertising agency Art Direction, with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering ground-breaking creative campaigns across multiple media including TV/Video, social, digital, experiential, and print.
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating big campaign ideas and conceptual, innovative thinking.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools and software including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, Slack, and Figma.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate external agency partners and internal teams.
  • Ability to articulate vision and provide clear, contextual feedback.
  • Organized with diligent follow-through on tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills, capable of selling concepts to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Marketing, Creative Writing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field.
  • 3 years' experience in editorial content management or related field, or 5 years' experience in editorial content management or related field.
