(USA) Senior Manager, Software Engineering

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, lead, and mentor a strong team.
• Shape the People.AI product roadmap based on business requirements and machine learning architecture.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to team members in high-impact areas.
• Partner and collaborate with product and business leaders.
• Work cross-functionally with product, data science, app development, and data engineering teams to prioritize efforts, develop prototypes, and communicate staffing needs.
• Effectively communicate team work to senior leaders and the executive team.
• Leverage or build cloud-based architectures, technologies, and platforms to deliver optimized ML models at scale.
• Model MLOps practices by leveraging CI/CD, test automation, automated deployments, model retraining, and monitoring.
• Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning deployment and foster a culture of learning.

Requirements

• Experience leading teams both technically and in a formal management capacity.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize requirements across multiple domains.
• Deep knowledge of building scalable distributed end-to-end machine learning pipelines and/or services.
• Highly skilled in API design, scaling applications, distributed systems, Python (ML, APIs, workflows), Cloud Platforms (Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, Airflow, SQL.
• Well-developed software engineering and API design fundamentals with the ability to write production code.
• Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 5 years' experience, or 7 years' experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Nice to Have

• Master's degree in a related field with 3 years' experience in software engineering.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and digital accessibility best practices.
• Experience with creating accessible products and services following Walmart's accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years' experience or 7 years' experience in software engineering.
• Option 2: 7 years' experience in software engineering.
• Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience.
