Account Executive

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Maximize sales with existing customers by utilizing C&S programs and applying knowledge and experience in retail and wholesale to increase sales and gross profit.
• Establish and follow an escalation process to address inventory issues that could impact the business, and identify and implement process improvements to minimize such issues.
• Track and report weekly on results related to leftover ad inventory, dead/excess inventory, unauthorized/reserve inventory, discontinued items, slow-moving, and close-coded items.
• Build working relationships with C&S regional staff and customers to understand obstacles and challenges, and work towards resolving issues and finding solutions.
• Conduct individual store visits weekly, monthly, and quarterly to assist customers, problem-solve, negotiate, develop programs, and maintain trust between C&S and the customer.
• Resolve billing issues and questions related to weekly statements, utilizing knowledge and resources to find solutions.
• Coordinate scheduling and delivery issues with transportation, especially for seasonal and holiday changes.
• Coordinate merchandise needs (Ad/TPR) between the customer and C&S procurement team, and promote new programs and services.
• Explain C&S programs and services to customer buyers/representatives and conduct business reviews.
• Assist retailers with ad layout, special advertising, and events, and develop best practices in collaboration with the Ad Manager.
• Coordinate store re-sets, new item procurement, and placement, and sell special buy programs such as shipper programs, holiday candy, seasonal, and holiday items.
• Plan and suggest equipment replacements and upgrades considering operational and financial factors like ROI, appearance, placement, and profit.
• Counsel customers on controlling operating expenses including payroll, inventory, utilities, capital expenditures, and gross profit.
• Keep both the customer and C&S informed of local and national competitive activities.
• Coordinate between customer and private label representatives, as well as manufacturer/broker sales representatives.
• Travel as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of procurement and merchandising aspects of the food retail business.
• Strong analytical skills, effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to influence, negotiate, and establish positive working relationships across organizational levels.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours and occasional weekends when necessary.
• 2-5 years of grocery wholesale or grocery retail experience preferred; retail sales or account management experience a plus.
• Bachelor's Degree in General Studies.
