About the Role

The Account Manager role at Altec involves generating new business and ensuring growth of existing accounts within a specific geographic region. Key Responsibilities

  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery.
  • Attend sales and trade meetings, and read related publications to obtain information about market conditions, business trends, and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information such as selling strategies and marketing information.
  • Complete expense reports, sales reports, and other paperwork.
  • Complete product and development training as required.
  • Compute customer's installation or production costs, and estimate savings from new services, products, or equipment.
  • Consult with engineers regarding technical problems.
  • Discuss needs with new and existing customers and explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
  • Demonstrate and explain the operation and use of products.
  • Identify prospective customers through directories, leads, organizations, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Inform customers of estimated delivery schedules, service contracts, warranties, or other product information.
  • Initiate sales campaigns and follow marketing plan guidelines to meet sales and production expectations.
  • Maintain customer records using automated systems.
  • Negotiate prices and terms of sales and service agreements.
  • Prepare sales contracts and submit orders for processing.
  • Prepare sales presentations and proposals explaining product specifications and applications.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers.
  • Provide feedback to product design teams for product tailoring.
  • Quote prices, credit terms, and bid specifications.
  • Assist customers in product selection based on needs and regulations.
  • Sell service contracts for products.
  • Study new product information for accurate depiction and recommendations.
  • Verify customers' credit ratings and appraise equipment for contract terms and trade-in values.
  • Ensure materials lists are accurate and delivery schedules meet deadlines.
  • Visit establishments to evaluate needs and promote sales.

Requirements

  • A four-year Bachelor's degree is required, with preferred fields in Engineering, Marketing, or Business.
  • Either one full year cycle as an Altec Sales Representative II or three years proven outside sales experience in a similar industry, OR eight full years of proven, successful outside sales experience.
  • Must be available for extensive overnight travel.
  • Current, Valid Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly in speaking and presenting.
  • Proficiency in PC skills including spreadsheets, word processing, and office management applications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sales & marketing principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Successful completion of Product Knowledge and Skills Training as required by Altec.

Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • Relevant sales experience as specified in the requirements.
