Job Description

About the Role

The primary focus of this position is to support the ICE Data Indices (IDI) product team in New York, mostly working with fixed income indices, including working with and understanding bond analytics. The candidate will be part of a team working in the design, verification, and release of new index builds. The position involves designing new index and methodology prototypes, working with quant and development teams for implementation, and verifying the accuracy of index calculations. The role requires working with large data sets, analyzing and interpreting data at both index and security levels, and utilizing tools such as Excel, Python, and the ICE Index Platform. Knowledge of equity and fixed income index calculation methodologies is necessary and will be acquired if not already possessed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with IDI product, R&D, and quant teams to design and build bespoke and standard indices and prototypes to meet client demand
  • Verification of new index builds and the validation of calculated data
  • Work with Python and large spreadsheets including both index and securities data, using the tools needed for the corresponding analysis
  • Analyze, interpret, and validate data and analytics both at the bond and index level
  • Work with databases and carry out analysis using Excel tools and/or Python
  • Use the ICE Index Platform for tasks such as Index Constituents, Profiling tool, Data Download, and Custom Index tool, with learning on the job
  • Apply problem-solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies and process improvements for increased accuracy
  • Conduct ad hoc research or data analysis to support the IDI product team globally

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Math, Finance, Engineering, Physics, or Technology
  • Proficiency with Python and Microsoft Excel tools and formulas
  • Good Windows Office skills for Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL scripts is a plus
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills with the ability to understand complex materials and distill large amounts of information
  • Good organizational skills to work under time constraints, multi-task, and prioritize workload
  • Familiarity with construction methodologies for equity and fixed income indices, and with index and portfolio analytics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent attention to detail and decision-making skills
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with SQL scripts
  • Professional certificates such as CFA or CIPM
