About the Role

The Area Sales Manager_Cullman Alabama is responsible for developing independent account business with an emphasis on profitability through new sales and account penetration. The role involves promoting and selling company branded products, supporting customer service activities, and increasing market share within the region. The position is part of Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor that builds close relationships with local customers including restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, and schools, providing advice on operations, menu development, and product selection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generates additional business through analyzing sales territory and individual customers; samples products with existing and potential customers; plans general sales strategy including time and territory management; plans sales approach with individual customers; and conducts effective sales presentations.
  • Grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing; works with Credit Department for initial authorization; coordinates with other center personnel for scheduling order-taking and deliveries; performs initial follow-up with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service and working closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts to prevent and resolve customer problems.
  • May personally make deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability.
  • Minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and following up on any issues.
  • Maintains awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, especially on market-driven and commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6-12 months outside sales/marketing and/or restaurant experience
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice to Have

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Sales/Marketing, or related area
  • 1-2 years foodservice sales/marketing and/or restaurant experience

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6-12 months outside sales/marketing and/or restaurant experience
  • Valid Driver's License
