About the Role

K-State Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Director of Social Media & Digital Strategy, which is a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position. The role involves managing social media content, engaging fans, providing live coverage of sporting events, analyzing content performance, and overseeing social media internship programs. The position supports K-State Athletics' mission to foster a culture that helps student-athletes reach their full potential while maintaining a strong connection with supporters and the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day content management of assigned social media accounts, including planning, scheduling, and executing creative assets.
  • Creatively engage fans on social media before, during, and after sporting events to build audience.
  • Provide live game coverage for K-State Athletics sporting events on social media.
  • Measure content performance and use data to continuously optimize strategy and workflow.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to ensure content is being properly planned for and distributed across social media channels.
  • Oversee social media internship program, including scheduling and training.
  • Maintain regular office hours, schedule project meetings, and complete other associated work throughout the week including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Perform duties related to storytelling, brand building, and fan engagement through K-State's digital platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or other related area.
  • Working knowledge of all social media platforms, including managing and posting to multiple accounts.
  • Experience in providing live game coverage on social media.
  • Understanding of sporting landscape, industry standards, and current social media trends.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Must possess meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be organized and able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple people, projects, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • May require occasional travel.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in graphic design, content creation, and shooting/editing photos and videos.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Big 12 Conference recruiting rules and regulations.
