About the Role

The Assistant Manager, Social Media will assist in driving innovation in storytelling and publishing across adidas' social media platforms, partner channels, and new media. Working closely with the Senior Manager of Social Media, this role involves executing social media strategies, managing content calendars, engaging with social communities, and ensuring brand consistency and impact across platforms. The position is based in Portland, Oregon, and focuses on the adidas Originals, Lifestyle, Sportswear, and Outdoor categories, with a secondary focus on the wider adidas brand ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the social media strategy across select adidas brand social channels, including calendar management, content publishing, social listening, and reactive publishing.
  • Support the NAM team of social media publishers to manage and moderate adidas' brand channels to build and protect the brand.
  • Work with the Newsroom network, PR, Partner Activation, and Analytics teams to maximize the publishing mix for campaigns across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Identify and implement platform trends and create effective editorial calendars and post plans specific to each social platform.
  • Create publishing plans for adidas partners and athletes aligned with category social plans.
  • Listen, respond, analyze, moderate, and engage with key social communities, reporting findings and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Join cross-functional project teams on larger adidas brand initiatives.
  • Monitor discussion trends to identify opportunities, raise issues with PR and Customer Service, and share insights with relevant business units.
  • Work closely with social influencers and sports marketing partners to ensure content visibility and discussion.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs and report on the success and outcomes of content placement.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in marketing, advertising, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of social marketing experience, preferably with a sporting or consumer goods company or agency.
  • Strong knowledge of the social media ecosystem and effective community management (Meta, TikTok, X, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest).
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills for developing post plans.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups including product marketing, communications, social, digital, and retail.
  • Understanding of editorial planning across PR and social landscapes, including experience with social media analytics and publishing tools (e.g., Khoros, Sprinklr, Talkwalker).
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Knowledge and passion for Sports, Music, Streetwear, and Fashion.
  • Content creation skills for social media.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing social media campaigns for sports or youth brands.
  • Understanding of influencer and creator-led marketing.
  • Experience with digital marketing performance monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of social marketing experience, preferably in a sporting or consumer goods environment.
