Associate Project Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the profitable execution of assigned small dollar Fire Install Projects, working with sales and operations leadership to support early project development activities such as strategy, vendor selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment.
• Provides work direction to project execution teams including Engineers, Designers, Technicians, Project Coordinators, Estimators, and Subcontractors to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Maintains positive cash flow by actively pursuing change orders and managing project-related accounts payable, billing, and collections.
• Develops Project Execution Plans including Work Breakdown Structure, Safety Plan, Project Schedules, Issues/Risk Logs, and Staffing Requirements.
• Evaluates contractual scope of work, client instructions, and project schedule changes; pursues change orders and prepares associated cost estimates and proposals.
• Reviews and interprets contract terms to ensure work meets customer satisfaction and company standards.
• Analyzes financial reports and project schedules to address potential issues proactively and communicates project status to management.
• Manages project risks, establishes recovery plans, and resolves disputes with minimal escalation.
• Prepares RFPs, negotiates, and issues subcontracts.
• Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, codes, and installation techniques.
• Coordinates resource allocation with the Installation/Operations Manager and/or Construction Manager.
• Ensures engineering and commissioning activities meet standards and escalates product-related problems as needed.
• Assists in project development efforts and provides feedback on team performance.
• Performs installation to service turnover at project completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture is preferred.
• Alternatively, an associate degree with equivalent work experience and a minimum of five years of field experience in the Building Construction Industry is required.
• Ability to communicate technical material effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in Project Management software and financial accounting systems, including MS Project, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.
• Travel may be required based on project needs.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of direct field experience in the Building Construction Industry if not holding a bachelor's degree.
• Experience working with project management and financial systems.
