Job Description

About the Role

The MGH Center for Global Health at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a part-time Social Media/Communications Intern to assist with social media content creation and internal and external communications. This hybrid position offers flexibility with remote work options and is based at 125 Nashua Street, Boston, MA. The role supports global health initiatives by increasing social media visibility, producing relevant content, and supporting communication and marketing activities within a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Center's presence on YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social networking platforms.
  • Produce timely, relevant social media content in line with the CGH Communications Style Guide to increase social visibility and engagement.
  • Provide technical expertise on social media data analysis, marketing tools, and trends, and make recommendations for their use.
  • Create all internal and external communications, including newsletters and reports, supporting the Center's marketing activities.
  • Ensure all communication pieces are consistent with the CGH Communications Style Guide and meet MGB Marketing & Branding guidelines.
  • Manage the workflow of creative projects internally to ensure timely production and delivery.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required in journalism, communication, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in non-profit and/or global public health preferred.
  • Well-versed in social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Experience with Constant Contact, InDesign, Illustrator, HootSuite, and Canva.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to build respectful, collaborative relationships.
  • Highly motivated, independent, entrepreneurial, and capable of performing in a complex environment.
  • Attention to detail, with a strong sense of initiative and perseverance.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in non-profit and/or global public health.

  • BA/BS degree in journalism, communication, or a related discipline.
