About the Role

The Big Data Solutions Architect at EchoStar is responsible for deploying enterprise-ready, secure, and compliant data-oriented solutions leveraging Data Warehouse, Big Data, and Machine Learning frameworks. The role involves supporting data and cloud transformation initiatives, optimizing data engineering and machine learning pipelines, and working across organizational stakeholders to deliver strategic solutions. EchoStar is a company reimagining the future of connectivity with a diverse portfolio including satellite television, streaming, smart home services, and mobile products, with a focus on technology innovation and solution engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy enterprise-ready, secure, and compliant data-oriented solutions leveraging Data Warehouse, Big Data, and Machine Learning frameworks.
  • Optimizing data engineering and machine learning pipelines.
  • Review architectural designs to ensure consistency & alignment with defined target architecture and adherence to established standards.
  • Support data and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the company's cloud strategy based on prior experience.
  • Understand the latest technologies in a rapidly innovative marketplace.
  • Work independently with all stakeholders across the organization to deliver point and strategic solutions.
  • Assist solution providers with the definition and implementation of technical and business strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience working as a Data Warehouse/Big Data Architect.
  • Experience in AWS cloud transformation projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services such as EMR, Glue, S3, Athena, DynamoDB, IAM, Lambda, Cloudwatch, and Data Pipeline.
  • Proficiency with Apache Spark, Scala, Python, and advanced Java, including shell scripting.
  • Experience with logical & physical table design in Big Data environments.
  • Experience in writing Big Data engineering for large-scale data integration in AWS.
  • Experience in writing Machine Learning data pipelines using Spark programming language is an advantage.
  • Advanced SQL skills including performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of big data frameworks such as MapReduce, HDFS, Hive/Impala, AWS Athena.
  • Experience with resource management frameworks such as Yarn, Mesos, or standalone Spark.
  • Knowledge of data platforms like Redshift, S3, Teradata, HBase, MySQL/Postgres, MongoDB.

Nice to Have

  • Telecommunication domain experience.
