About the Role

As a dedicated Business Intelligence Analyst III at USAA, you will partner with development product owners and data engineers to shape the Claims Data landscape. This role involves analyzing business problems using data from internal and external sources to provide insights to analysts and decision makers. You will identify trends and patterns in datasets, create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs, and may participate in cross-functional teams to address business issues. The position offers a flexible work environment with in-office presence required 4 days per week, and can be based in various locations including San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; Chesapeake, VA; or Tampa, FL.

Key Responsibilities

Gathers business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and data needs.
Utilizes knowledge of multiple data structures and sources to support the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions, including data visualization, data transformation, or data collection.
Develops partnerships with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures, data engineering, or related business intelligence efforts, including designing and implementing technical standards and governance practices.
Applies data visualization best practices to identify and interpret trends or patterns while following standard enterprise branding.
Understands the value of prototyping, usability, and the end-user experience to maximize the impact of data visualization products such as dashboards, reports, insights, or analyses.
Acts as a trusted data visualization advisor to stakeholders and end-users to drive business value.
Develops basic knowledge of relevant data, information, and application architecture decisions.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science, or other business-related discipline; or 4 years of related work experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics.
Up to 2 years of experience in data/analytics or related functional operations (P&C).
Ability to identify innovative approaches to address business problems and solutions.
Knowledge and/or awareness of business intelligence and data management platforms such as Tableau, Business Objects, Snowflake, Hadoop, Netezza.

Nice to Have

Claims experience (Adjuster, Business Process Owner, etc.)
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Qualifications

Educational background in a quantitative analytics discipline or equivalent work experience.
