About the Role

The Business Product Manager will assist in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of the program. A person in this role will ensure that operational and underwriting processes stay within agreed upon budgets and timelines. This person will oversee production and performance of underwriters within a specific discipline, cultivate carrier relationships, and develop underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, and applications specific to their segment. The role is integral to driving product growth, profitability, and industry trend awareness within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop underwriting criteria for specialized segments of business.
  • Drive countrywide product growth and profitability for assigned lines of business.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and recommend new product opportunities for assigned lines of business.
  • Lead implementation of new products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Develop both short and long-term project roadmaps for each product.
  • Stay current on industry developments and trends as well as the regulatory environments.
  • Create specialized forms.
  • Engage in carrier relationships.
  • Perform underwriting audits.
  • Monitor claims and program loss ratios.
  • Manage underwriters.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Risk Management.
  • At least 5 years of Specialty Underwriting or Product Management Experience in a brokerage firm.
  • Experience in Product Management and Development.
  • Knowledge of New Product Launches and End-User Insight Collection.
  • Skills in Product Rating and Creating Product Roadmaps.
  • Proficiency in Data Analytics.
  • Management and Leadership capabilities.
  • Behavioral skills including operational, interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with regulatory environments and industry trends.
  • Experience in managing carrier relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Risk Management.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in underwriting or product management.
