About the Role

The CANDLES Social Media Coordinator position at Indiana State University involves generating educational content and distributing it through the museum's social media channels, as well as responding to individuals through these channels. This role supports the museum's outreach and engagement efforts, requiring a student enrolled at least 6 credit hours who can manage social media tasks and assist with museum operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate educational content for social media platforms.
  • Respond to specific inquiries through social media channels.
  • Run social media reports.
  • Open and/or close the museum.
  • Greet museum patrons and accept admission fees.
  • Facilitate tours for museum guests.
  • Sell gift shop merchandise and operate the register, including making change and processing credit card transactions.
  • Answer phones and take messages.
  • Perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Respond to routine requests for information.
  • Assist with donor acknowledgment.
  • Assist with museum custodial duties.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Indiana State University student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
  • Able to learn and retain information.
  • Able to plan, organize, and implement projects in a timely manner.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to work carefully and politely around others.
  • Demonstration of high ethical standards, integrity, professionalism, politeness, and courteousness.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.

  • Math and basic accounting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.

  • Experience using a variety of social media tools in different ways, including data analysis.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Indiana State University student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
