Job Description

About the Role

The Contracted Early College Data and Research Analyst will work under the direction of the Executive Director of Early College to develop and support a data and research infrastructure that evaluates and supports Early College programs in the Commonwealth. This position involves collaboration with multiple state departments, data analysis, reporting, and system development to monitor outcomes and improve program effectiveness. The role emphasizes equity, diversity, and inclusion within the education sector, aiming to support underrepresented students in higher education through data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce research and analysis to measure and monitor the outcomes of Early College students.
  • Analyze Early College outcomes and schoolwide outcomes.
  • Create visualizations and reports for program staff and colleagues to understand program outcomes.
  • Work with program staff to integrate outcome data into program target setting, review, and designation.
  • Support the development of Power BI data dashboards for internal and external reporting.
  • Collaborate on the calculation of key performance indicators from DESE and DHE data.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Early College Dashboard quality control assessments and protocols.
  • Support ongoing data requests and develop annual data reports for program assessment.
  • Identify data gaps and pursue opportunities for future data collection or analysis.
  • Support the integration of Early College data into the state's longitudinal data systems (EDWIN and E2C Hub).
  • Design tables and views to support data analysis needs.
  • Partner with data teams to develop normalized database designs and document data rules.
  • Validate calculated data against related reported data.
  • Support expansion of data reporting on Early College outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience working with SQL and inter-relational databases such as Snowflake or Oracle.
  • Experience with R, SPSS, or other statistical software and conducting statistical analysis.
  • Experience working with data visualization software (Power BI preferred).
  • Strong ability to analyze and communicate complex data and information quickly.
  • Knowledge of educational research methods and experience with published research.
  • Familiarity with state K-12 and/or higher education systems and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or developing data reporting systems.
  • Commitment to efforts addressing achievement gaps and educational inequities.
  • A bachelor's degree and/or at least four years of relevant professional educational experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Snowflake, Oracle, or other relational databases to query data.
  • Experience leading statistical analyses, including regression modeling.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts education data systems such as SIMS, SCS, HEIRS.
  • Knowledge of indicators and outcomes relevant to Early College programs.
  • Experience working with an equity-based approach.
  • Strong communication skills for non-technical audiences, including documentation.
  • Ability to work productively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Early College landscape or programs.

Benefits & Perks

  • This is a limited one-year full-time contracted position, 37.5 hours per week, through 6/30/2026.
  • Hybrid work schedule with some meetings in Boston or across the state.
