With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners. This role will be dedicated to GEC County Road Bond Programs in our Austin office. This role primarily consists of assisting managing teams of professional service providers to deliver transportation infrastructure projects ranging in size and complexity in the Central Texas Area. This role is responsible for assisting with overseeing and guiding project consultants on designated projects, ensuring they meet contractual obligations, stay within budget, and adhere to the project timeline. Responsibilities include managing the planning and design plan review process, managing the right of way and utility coordination process, coordinating bids for local projects, and leading regular meetings with consultants and clients to foster effective collaboration. This role serves as a liaison between the client, local agencies, and other relevant parties, ensuring smooth communication and project progress. It also involves reviewing project plans for regulatory compliance and scrutinizing consultant contracts to safeguard client interests. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of client needs and Bond Program requirements related to project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
  • Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.
  • Experience delivering multi-disciplined or large/complex projects on-time, on-budget, with quality and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to identify and handle risk and change management independently.
  • Experience leading large teams inside and outside of HNTB using sub-consultants.
  • Proficiency with system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.
  • Experience serving as the lead interface with the client.
  • Ability to deploy talent to other projects and develop successors to work with the same client on other work.

Nice to Have

  • 15 years relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.
