About the Role

The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department is seeking candidates for the position of Data Analyst 3 in the Technology Bureau, with duties including analyzing data trends, reviewing data sources, conducting complex data analysis, collaborating on analytics strategies, and supervising a team of Data Analysts.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinates the analysis of trends in data sources and the assessment of data structures.
Reviews data sources and reports produced by lower-level staff for accuracy.
Conducts the most difficult analysis of data.
Meets with business areas to discuss the development of the agency strategy for analytics solutions.
Oversees the drafting of informational documents on analytics solutions.
Reviews and suggests improvements to current or planned systems and processes.
Supervises a team of Data Analysts 1 and 2.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 2 or a bachelor's degree with five years of experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools.
Experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools.
Ability to review data sources and reports for accuracy.
Experience conducting complex data analysis.
Ability to collaborate with business areas on analytics strategies.
Supervisory experience is implied by supervising a team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools.
Substitution options include a master's degree in data or related fields, which may substitute for one year of experience, or a Ph.D., which may substitute for two years.

Benefits & Perks

Starting salary of $106,898 with periodic increases up to $131,665.
Additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment for positions within certain counties.
