About the Role

The position focuses on designing and developing data models, predictive systems, and innovative data solutions to support smarter business decisions, enhance customer experience, and improve productivity. The role requires collaboration with data and analytics teams to optimize analysis and scale solutions, with a primary focus on the business group within BMO, but potentially broader enterprise-wide impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use advanced analytical algorithms and technologies (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, AI) to mine and analyze large structured and unstructured data sets to obtain insights.
  • Design and construct new processes for modeling data and develop predictive models.
  • Leverage big data technology to create solutions that support smarter business decisions, improve customer experience, and drive productivity.
  • Collaborate with data and analytics professionals and teams to optimize, refine, and scale analysis into mature analytics solutions.
  • Play an active role in advancing innovative data strategies to understand consumer trends and address business problems.
  • Conduct large-scale analysis of information to discover patterns and trends by combining different modules and algorithms.
  • Use data analysis to provide recommendations and advice for business leaders to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Develop prediction systems and machine learning algorithms, and investigate additional technologies and tools for developing innovative data solutions.
  • Work with the product team and partners to understand and support data-driven decision making, business planning, and future roadmaps.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently on complex tasks, including unique situations.

Requirements

  • Deep learning and machine learning proficiency.
  • Understanding of trust, bias, and ethics in data analysis.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and operations research.
  • Experience with big data, data visualization, and data wrangling.
  • Skills in computational thinking and programming.
  • Ability to preprocess and analyze complex data sets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration and team skills.
  • Influence skills and data-driven decision-making ability.
  • Typically 4-6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developing and deploying predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
  • Familiarity with advanced data technologies and tools for innovative data solutions.
