Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems including Electrical, Mechanical, Communications, Building Monitoring and Control.
  • Track and trend operational characteristics to ensure optimal performance.
  • Mentor junior staff members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Work with the site Data Center Manager to track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum operational efficiency by analyzing existing conditions, recommending new technologies, and improving overall efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages.
  • Manage the data floor and back of house mechanical loading capacity to ensure cooling system efficiency.
  • Provide applied mechanical and integrated control expertise for the entire data center.
  • Serve as a technical expert regarding fire and electrical codes.
  • Develop procedures for preventative or corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assist Data Center Manager with database management of maintenance discrepancies and resolve site issues based on priorities.
  • Manage Trouble Tickets and Work Order Completion processes.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects such as cage build-outs, overhead installations, and rack and stack.
  • Navigate and utilize a CMMS system.
  • Use developed procedures to solve problems.
  • Assist in asset and consumable inventory management and ensure proper equipment labeling.
  • Ensure processes are completed in a timely manner according to SLAs and data is uploaded to the OSS.
  • Provide physical security within the premises.
  • Deliver day-to-day exceptional customer service and support.
  • Escalate incidents and prepare report writing.
  • Monitor the building fire alarm system.
  • Conduct regular facility and security tours, documenting and responding to issues.
  • Adhere to CoreSite's Principles of Operational Excellence, culture, and guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, fire life safety systems, and communications infrastructure.
  • Ability to operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
  • Experience with managing mechanical systems such as chilled water, HVAC units, and humidification systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical/critical power distribution from utility/generator switchgear through UPS systems.
  • Familiarity with fire life safety systems including wet and pre-action sprinkler systems and detection devices.
  • Experience managing communications infrastructure including IFD/MDF/MMR, structured cabling, and customer space management.
  • Ability to work from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm EST Monday through Friday for the NY2 day shift.
  • Strong technical ability and innovative thinking to improve operational efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Knowledge of fire and electrical codes.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ability to manage and track maintenance activities and equipment labeling.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle incident escalation.
