About the Role

Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a subsidiary of McKesson, is one of the world's leading oncology research organizations conducting community-based clinical trials. It has conducted more than 750 first-in-human clinical trials and contributed to pivotal research leading to FDA-approved cancer therapies. SCRI's research network includes over 1,300 physicians across more than 250 locations in 24 states, dedicated to transforming cancer care through clinical excellence and innovative research. The Data Solutions team at SCRI is seeking a Data Engineer to support strategic data initiatives and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to support various data-driven initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and contribute to the development of data architectures.
Work on data integration projects, ensuring seamless and optimized data flow between systems.
Implement best practices for data engineering, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance.
Contribute to data modernization efforts by leveraging cloud solutions and optimizing data processing workflows.
Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Automate deployment and promotion to different environments using GitHub CICD with GitHub Actions / Liquibase.
Participate in the evaluation and identification of new technologies.

Requirements

Technical expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines and large-scale processing systems.
Experience with Azure Cloud, Data Factory, Batch Service, and Databricks.
Experience working with cloud solutions and contributing to data modernization efforts.
Experience using Terraform and Bicep scripts to build Azure infrastructure.
Experience implementing security changes using Azure RBAC.
Experience building cloud infrastructure including Data Factory, Batch Service, Azure Gen 2 Storage Account, and Azure SQL database.
Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, Pyspark, or Scala for data manipulation and transformation.
Excellent understanding of data engineering principles, data architecture, and database management.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of the healthcare, distribution, or software industries.
Strong technical aptitude and experience with a wide variety of technologies.
Ability to rapidly learn and evaluate new tools or technologies.
Demonstrated technical experience and innovative thinking.
Strong customer and quality focus.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Data Science.
