About the Role

Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Data Engineer II to work with SAP and actuary applications and the reporting warehouse to transfer to more modernized systems applications. The role involves analyzing requirements, developing ETL processes, managing teams, debugging issues, and supporting deployment and production activities. The position offers the option to work remotely and is part of Zurich's broader effort to modernize systems and support risk management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Understand the requirement documents and clarify them with Business analysts.
Analyze the technical specifications and create detailed design documents.
Develop ETL processes using Informatica and Shell scripts using Linux as per business specifications.
Manage offshore and onshore teams for development and system unit testing completion.
Debug issues and communicate effectively with customers for resolution.
Analyze UAT issues and new scenarios, providing immediate resolutions.
Fine-tune SQL queries to improve performance.
Participate in release and production handover meetings and adhere to processes.
Support production deployment and communicate with customers for signoffs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
7 years of experience in a similar role or as a Manager, Senior Consultant, Senior Project Engineer, or similar position working with applications and system modernization.
7 years of experience designing and developing using Informatica Power Center.
Experience designing ETL mappings and workflows using Informatica.
Implementing ETL processes with Informatica Power Center and Power Exchange.
Optimizing and tuning mappings and sessions in Informatica.
Working with programming languages including Python, Shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL.
Experience with database platform Netezza.
Developing data profiling processes.
Experience with job scheduling tools like AutoSys.
Familiarity with cloud technologies including Informatica Cloud, Yellowbrick, Databricks, and cloud ELT technology DBT.

Nice to Have

Experience working with SAP and actuary applications.
Knowledge of cloud ELT technologies and modern data architecture.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in relevant field.
7 years of relevant experience in data engineering and system modernization.
