About the Role

The Data Engineer, Lead at Booz Allen is responsible for building advanced technology solutions and leading data engineering activities on mission-driven projects. The role involves overseeing the development and deployment of data pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful. The candidate will mentor a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, agile environment, using their expertise in data analysis, exploration, and scalable platform design to support important missions such as fraud detection, cancer research, and national intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and deployment of data pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.
  • Mentor a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Assess, design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms for clients.
  • Guide data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
  • Use expertise in analytical exploration and data examination to support project goals.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with developing code for ETL processes, data analysis, or data modeling.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL.
  • 2+ years of experience with AI/ML implementation and development.
  • Experience in implementing code in operational environments for operational usage.
  • Experience creating and integrating code for retrieving, parsing, and processing data across multiple systems or applications.
  • Experience developing scripts and programs for converting various data types into usable formats and supporting scaling, monitoring, and operation of data platforms.
  • Experience supervising technical staff and leading projects within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DevOps tools, including GitHub.
  • Experience with database administration or data analytics.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with a public cloud, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
