About the Role

The Data Engineer, Mid at Booz Allen is responsible for building advanced technology solutions and implementing data engineering activities on mission-driven projects. The role involves deploying and developing pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful, working with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, agile environment to assess, design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms. The position supports using data for impactful missions such as fraud detection, cancer research, and national intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help build advanced technology solutions and implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
  • Deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.
  • Work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers.
  • Use experience in analytical exploration and data examination to manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for clients.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience utilizing programming languages for Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, data analysis, or data modeling.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining scalable data stores and big data models.
  • 3+ years of experience developing in Python.
  • Experience developing code for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data.
  • Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and support scaling, monitoring, and operation of data platforms.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to take a polygraph exam.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • Experience implementing code in an operational environment or for operational usage.
  • Experience in application development utilizing PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with Rust or Java.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools, including GitHub.
  • Experience with a public cloud, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience working on real-time data.
  • Experience with Agile engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam.
