About the Role

As a data engineer at Booz Allen, you'll implement data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You'll deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful. You will work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. Your role involves managing the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for clients, using big data for good.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
  • Deploy and develop data pipelines and platforms to organize and make data meaningful.
  • Work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers.
  • Use analytical exploration and data examination to support project goals.
  • Manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable data platforms for clients.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with application or software development.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python.
  • 3+ years of experience with Tensorflow or PyTorch.
  • 2+ years of experience with AI/ML implementation and development.
  • Experience creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing data.
  • Experience developing scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and supporting data platform scaling, monitoring, and operation.
  • Experience supervising others and leading projects within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
  • HS diploma or GED.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with database administration or data analytics.
  • Experience with data lakes and unstructured data.
  • Experience with a public cloud, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka.
  • Experience with Agile engineering practices.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or operations research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or operations research (preferred).
  • Security investigation and eligibility for TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
