About the Role

Metric5 is seeking a Data Engineer/Architect (RPA & AI) for an upcoming opportunity. The role involves designing and maintaining data infrastructure to support enterprise RPA and AI initiatives, working with cloud platforms, and supporting data science and automation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and robust database solutions (SQL, NoSQL) to support the enterprise RPA and AI program.
  • Architect and implement data models and storage solutions on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) that are optimized for machine learning, data analytics, and intelligent automation.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and RPA developers to provide the necessary data infrastructure for automating complex processes involving data manipulation, data mining, and data validation.
  • Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from disparate sources, ensuring data quality and accessibility for AI/ML models and cognitive tools.
  • Support Data Scientists and developers by preparing datasets for training and testing of cognitive capabilities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and building data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS RDS, S3, Glue, Redshift or Azure SQL Database, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics).
  • Experience supporting data-intensive applications, particularly in the realm of AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, with at least 3 years in a cloud-based environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • The candidate must be local to the Washington, D.C. area and able to report on-site.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting an RPA program or working with RPA platforms (e.g., UiPath).
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • Prior experience working in a U.S. Federal government environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
