Data Engineer/Data Architect (IS Technical Architect)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Define the development, testing, and production processing hardware, software, or security environments for new systems and major system enhancements.
• Establish the technical standards for the project and create the vision for new systems or major enhancements.
• Lead project staff to provide technical guidance, monitor operational impacts, and develop and implement technical and security standards and guidelines.
• Research and evaluate new and emerging technology to determine benefits, costs, and effectiveness within the county's technical environment.
• Design interfaces and integrations between systems, identify processes and structures to ensure proper system performance, and create tools and templates to improve productivity.
• Develop, test, and maintain processes for cloud architecture design, migration, and support, ensuring security and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate information system anomalies based on security reports, network traffic, log files, and security alerts.
• Review application and database security for new development projects and purchased applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, management information systems, or a closely related field.
• Seven years of progressive experience with methods, systems, and analysis in application development, data management, infrastructure, or security.
• Ability to research and evaluate new technology and determine its applicability to the county's environment.
• Experience in designing and maintaining data architectures, pipelines, and security controls.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with various enterprise stakeholders.
• Knowledge of cloud, on-premises, and hybrid data environments.

• Experience with cloud architecture design and migration.
• Knowledge of security standards and regulatory compliance in data environments.
