About the Role

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. We are looking for an experienced leader to help lead the Member Innovation Data Engineering team. This team will work in close partnership with Data Scientists and Product Managers to support new innovation on the Netflix Product. You will help influence and guide projects from end-to-end: ideation to production.

Key Responsibilities

Guide a team by providing relevant context and inspiration, leveraging understanding of business and technology.
Constantly look out for talent, recognize and attract top-tier engineers, and develop connections to help team members flourish.
Coach and guide employees through their strengths and weaknesses through regular feedback.
Establish strong relationships with both business and technical leaders across Netflix.
Identify areas for continuous improvement and advocate for actions to address them.
Help lead projects from ideation to production, supporting innovation on the Netflix Product.

Requirements

Strong people leadership skills with humility and a caring attitude towards team success.
Experience in coaching colleagues through difficult situations and managing tough conversations.
Excellent communication skills, self-awareness, and ability to be assertive in providing input and support.
8+ years of experience in data engineering, with strong programming (at least 1 major language) and SQL skills.
4+ years of engineering leadership experience.
Experience working in a large-scale consumer-facing digital company.
MS in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field.
Strong experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.

Nice to Have

Strong business intuition, product sense, and analytic skills.

Qualifications

MS in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of experience in data engineering.
4+ years of engineering leadership experience.
