Job Description

About the Role

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. It manages provider relationships and performs quality control oversight of a wide range of products and services offered under the AARP name, including health, financial, travel, leisure, and life event services. The company engages in new product development, consulting, and data-driven marketing efforts to better understand and serve its members, leveraging digital behavioral data and emerging AI technologies to personalize member experiences and improve marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience in Databricks to quantitatively study and explore member data to track and analyze member behavior
  • Work on highly scalable ML models and algorithms in data mining, Natural Language Processing modeling, web scraping, and modeling topics using generative AI large language models
  • Present results of research and analysis using data visualization techniques to broader audiences within or outside the company

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
  • Pursuing a degree in computer science, statistics, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, marketing, operations research, or related fields
  • Proficiency in Spark, Databricks, AWS, and generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, etc.
  • Technical fluency in Pyspark (preferred), Python/Pandas, and SQL
  • Some experience (professional or college-level) dealing with big data
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to build stories and narratives out of data
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Comfort working across multiple business teams, including technical and non-technical partners

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud environments, cluster optimization, and usage
  • Experience with ML libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a relevant degree program and pursuing a degree in a related field

Benefits & Perks

  • Hourly range of $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates
  • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits
  • Hybrid work environment with remote work days on Mondays and Fridays within the United States and its territories
