Job Description

About the Role

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. It manages provider relationships and performs quality control oversight of a wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name, including health, financial, travel, leisure, and life event services. The primary purpose of this intern position is to support the ASI Marketing Data Science team's digital transformation initiative by modernizing email marketing campaign executions, streamlining and automating tasks to enhance operational efficiency, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies and data-driven approaches to improve marketing processes and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience in Databricks.
  • Proficient in Python programming.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud environments, cluster optimization, and usage.
  • Present results and/or analysis, typically using data visualization techniques, sometimes to broader audiences within or outside of the company.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, such as rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.
  • Pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields.
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, Databricks, AWS, and generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, etc.
  • Technical fluency in Pyspark (preferred), Python/Pandas, and SQL.
  • Some experience (professional or college-level) dealing with big data.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies like ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to build stories and narratives out of data.
  • Comfort working across multiple business teams, including both technical and non-technical partners.

Nice to Have

  • Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in a graduate program.

  • Enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university.
  • Pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields.

Benefits & Perks

  • Paid internship with hourly range of $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
  • In-office/hybrid work environment with remote work options within the United States and its territories.
  • Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
  • Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
