Data Science Manager, Ads Horizontal Lead

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Build, inspire, and grow a high-performance team of talented Data Scientists and BI engineers, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Drive data democratization by executing strategies for data accessibility and literacy across the Ads organization, including overseeing the design and maintenance of foundational data tables and business intelligence dashboards.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical problems, providing the 'why' and 'how' behind performance.
• Establish and uphold high standards for data integrity, consistency, and reliability in all team outputs to ensure data trustworthiness and quality.
• Leverage strong business and product acumen to identify opportunities, generate insights, and drive data-driven decision-making aligned with strategic objectives.
• Communicate complex data findings, insights, and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing business strategy and outcomes.
• Champion and foster an inclusive environment by building highly talented and diverse teams with an inclusive culture where every voice is heard and valued.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in managing small teams of highly technical scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on experience as a data scientist, with some experience in data management and Business Intelligence.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with hypothesis-driven product development.
• Experience being a thought partner to improve decision quality and influence with expertise.
• Industrial experience with ads product and metrics.

Nice to Have

• Relocation assistance is not available, so being within a commutable distance from San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Seattle is preferred.
• Experience with data accessibility and literacy initiatives.
• Experience in strategic data solutions for advertising products.

• Base salary range: $163,064—$335,720 USD, with final salary based on location, experience, and skills.
• Flexible work model with in-office collaboration approximately once per week in San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Seattle.
