About the Role

Our mission on the Advertising Product & Technology team is to build a next generation advertising platform that aligns with our unique value proposition for audio, video, and display. We work to scale the user experience for our fans and hundreds of thousands of advertisers. This scale brings unique challenges as well as tremendous opportunities for our artists and creators. We are recruiting for a Data Scientist II within the multidisciplinary Advertising R&D Product Insights team. This role focuses on enabling the scaling and advancement of Spotify Advertising by working with our self-service advertising platform, Spotify Ads Manager. The team operates at the crossroads of R&D and the Ads business, providing key data and insights to help understand performance and improve the advertiser experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses on large sets of data to extract practical insights that will help drive product, platform and business decisions throughout all stages of the product development lifecycle
  • Define data requirements and support the implementation of data specs for product launches
  • Support the management and maintenance of the Spotify Ads Manager's data and reporting ecosystem, including dashboards
  • Build lasting solutions to surface critical data and performance metrics
  • Create and execute experiments aimed at incrementally improving user and advertiser metrics via efficient testing methods
  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key partners
  • Develop individually to continue to grow your impact, and help mentor peers and early career colleagues

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in a similar data science role
  • Interest in supporting the growth of a maturing platform and building the foundation for the future of Spotify Advertising
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics simply
  • Experience working with platform, product, sales, or marketing teams to improve internal decision making
  • Technical competence in analytics: coding skills for data extraction (SQL, Python with pandas and numpy), and data visualization (Tableau, Looker, matplotlib)
  • Experience analyzing large datasets
  • Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning
  • Ability to match qualitative research with quantitative analysis
  • Capability to solve loosely defined problems
  • Curiosity, growth mindset, and enthusiasm for working on a constantly evolving team

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a cross-disciplinary environment
  • Familiarity with experimentation and causal inference techniques

  • Relevant work history of 3+ years in data science roles
