About the Role

The Data Scientist III role at Google Fi involves providing quantitative support, market understanding, and strategic insights to partners across the organization. The position focuses on analyzing data to help improve products, drive business decisions, and support Google's worldwide user base of over a billion people. The team encompasses Google's computing platforms, devices, and services, aiming to develop innovative experiences through research, design, and development of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools such as SQL, R, and Python.
  • Use comprehensive technical knowledge to leverage custom data infrastructure or existing data models.
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools.
  • Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
  • Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support business reviews with cross-functional/organizational leadership.
  • Translate analysis results into business insights or product improvement opportunities.
  • Provide analytical insights and recommendations to influence product feature development decisions, with some guidance.
  • Build and prototype analysis and business cases iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5 years of experience with analysis applications (e.g., extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 2 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • Experience solving unstructured business problems with data science, translating results into impactful business recommendations, and measuring the success of those initiatives.
  • Understanding of end-to-end user experience, marketing, and user growth.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative field.
  • 5 years of relevant analysis and coding experience, or 2 years with a Master's degree.

Benefits & Perks

  • US base salary range of $132,000-$189,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
  • Additional benefits as offered by Google.
