As a Data Scientist at AFS, you'll develop innovative approaches to glean meaning and value from large datasets, working collaboratively throughout the data-science lifecycle, creating qualitative and quantitative methods, identifying algorithms and AI technologies, employing analytic modeling, scripting, and programming to aggregate data, and sharing research results with peers and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Develop innovative approaches to glean meaning and value from large datasets.
Work collaboratively and iteratively throughout the data-science lifecycle.
Create qualitative and quantitative methods to characterize datasets and optimize analytical workflows.
Identify new or existing algorithms, machine learning, or artificial intelligence technologies to solve technical and operational problems.
Employ analytic modeling, scripting, and programming to aggregate data and construct usable intelligence from various data sources.
Evaluate, document, and share research processes and results with peers, customers, and leadership.

Requirements

A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience with an A.A. degree, or 10 years with a B.S., or 8 years with an M.S., or 6 years with a PhD.
Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience in designing and implementing machine learning.
Experience with Data Science and advanced analytical algorithms.
Programming skills in at least one high-level language, e.g., Python.
Experience with data management, cleaning, transformation, mining, modeling, and assessment.
Knowledge of artificial intelligence and software engineering.
Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.

Nice to Have

Experience with operational deployment of data science models.
Knowledge of federal government data systems and security protocols.

Qualifications

Relevant experience as specified in the requirements.
Educational background in relevant technical fields.
