Data Scientist Sr. Advisor

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement machine learning models for structured and unstructured data
• Build and fine-tune Generative AI models (e.g., LLMs, diffusion models) using platforms such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, or Anthropic
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into production systems
• Conduct A/B testing and statistical analysis to evaluate model performance
• Prepare clear documentation and present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Stay current with AI/ML research, particularly in GenAI and NLP advancements
• Oversee project resources, documentation, and compliance with federal policies and performance guidelines
• Engage with federal health clients to translate business needs into data-driven solutions
• Manage stakeholder expectations and deliver strategic insights supporting mission outcomes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, computer science or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers
• Experience working with LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, LLaMA) or generative models (e.g., VAEs, GANs, Diffusion Models)
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Experience deploying models using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Proficiency in SQL and working with large datasets
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex findings into actionable insights
• 3+ years of consulting experience, with a demonstrated ability to understand business needs, manage stakeholder expectations, and provide strategic guidance on emerging AI technology trends
• Eligibility for Public Trust Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain HHS/FDA Suitability background investigation

Nice to Have

• Exposure to MLOps practices, version control, CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with ethical considerations in AI model development and deployment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• 10+ years of related experience in data science or machine learning
