Data Steward - Data Product Owner

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the lifecycle of the Equifax data sources across all stages from ingestion to production.
• Drive the support of migration activities as we move our data sources into the cloud, including running validation routines, comparing data results between legacy and cloud systems, and coordinating project deliverables across teams.
• Own the development of automated, threshold-based reports that identify areas for further investigation and improvement, and act on these findings in a timely manner based on business impact.
• Support the maintenance of metadata management artifacts such as schemas, business rules, and data dictionaries in Collibra, in line with USIS Data program standards and service level commitments.
• Share basic knowledge of markets, strategies, and operating environments for a product to support business partnership and consulting.
• Begin to apply Product Thinking in carrying out job responsibilities.
• Develop detailed knowledge of the data and technology supporting a data product.
• Support at least one key process within the data product pipeline.
• Participate in initiatives that improve business use of the data.
• Understand data product requirements such as discoverability, accessibility, trustworthiness, self-describability, interoperability, and security, and support implementation with other groups.
• Create communication materials about the data product.
• Understand key data product financial metrics and suggest optimization efforts.
• Participate in new data product initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred.
• 2-5 years of analysis, product management, and/or consulting experience regarding data, preferably financial services data.
• Familiarity with cloud and on-prem technologies, structured and unstructured data, streaming and reposed data.
• Familiarity with SQL and BI Tools (Looker, BigQuery, Tableau, etc.) and desktop application suites (Microsoft or Google).
• Cloud certification strongly preferred.
• Demonstrates leadership with cross-functional efforts and develops effective working relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously.
• Creativity, drive, and a desire to grow in thought leadership, initiative, and strategic thinking.
• Experience with Collibra or similar metadata management tools.
• Experience with Looker or similar data visualization tools.
• Experience with SQL, Google BigQuery, Python, Java, or equivalent database queries and views.

Nice to Have

• A strong sense of governance protocols and regulatory, security, and compliance policies.
• Experience with Collibra or similar metadata management tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
• Master's Degree (strongly preferred)
