Database Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Help build advanced technology solutions and implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
• Deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.
• Work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers.
• Manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable data platforms for clients.
• Support analytical exploration and data examination activities.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or SQL Server.
• 5+ years of experience implementing database performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies.
• 4+ years supporting ETL and ELT pipelines in data ingestion, transformation, and archival within secure enterprise environments.
• 3+ years designing and managing data models, schemas, and access patterns aligned with application requirements.
• 3+ years applying data protection best practices, including encryption at rest, access control policies, and audit logging.
• 3+ years working with software development teams to define and support database requirements within Agile or DevSecOps workflows.
• 2+ years scripting or automating database tasks using SQL, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• TS/SCI security clearance.
• HS diploma or GED.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Joint Combatant Command organizational structures.
• Ability to draft comprehensive documents to capture and codify work-related tasks.
