This position is responsible for providing legislative, policy, and constituent relations support to the LEO-Legislative Affairs Division. The role involves monitoring legislative activities, conducting research, writing analyses, tracking reports, and attending legislative meetings and hearings on behalf of LEO when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legislative, policy, and constituent relations support to the LEO-Legislative Affairs Division.
  • Monitoring relevant legislative activities and tracking legislative reports to ensure timely submission.
  • Writing bill analyses and conducting in-depth research on policy issues.
  • Attending legislative meetings and hearings on behalf of LEO when the Legislative Director and/or Deputy Director are unavailable.
  • Assisting with legislative issues for other LEO agencies to ensure department-wide legislative issues are handled efficiently.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Three years of professional experience, including one year at the experienced (P11) level in state service.
  • Alternatively, completion of high school and at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services.
  • Ability to perform work in Michigan, with relocation if currently outside the state.
  • Ability to monitor legislative activities, conduct research, and prepare analyses.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with legislative processes or policy analysis.
  • Knowledge of Michigan state government operations.

Qualifications

  • Educational background: bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience in legislative or policy-related roles.
  • Ability to conduct research and analyze legislative issues.
