About the Role

This role requires strong QA practices, proactive problem-solving, and an ability to meet consistent project deadlines. The Digital Accessibility Tester will work on ensuring digital products and services meet accessibility standards, utilizing assistive technologies, and collaborating with internal and external teams to improve accessibility compliance and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct manual testing of digital products using assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and device features like speech-to-text and magnifiers.
  • Audit common and legacy systems and products to identify accessibility issues, providing guidance for mitigation and improvement.
  • Use testing data to support accessibility design and user-centered design (UCD) methodologies.
  • Test and assess accessibility issues on internal business processes, including case management and data collection systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation and best practice testing methodologies across multiple systems and functional areas.
  • Explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders and communicate their implications on systems, processes, projects, and services.
  • Facilitate integration of test data to support analysis and remediation processes.
  • Mentor or coach other product and service testers to promote consistency and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Web Development, Library or Informational Science, or Human Computer Interaction.
  • 3+ years of hands-on digital accessibility testing experience, including assistive technologies, WCAG compliance, and manual testing methods.
  • 2+ years of experience working on a digital product team as a project owner or individual contributor.
  • Strong proficiency in manual testing with assistive tech: NVDA, JAWS, Dragon, Fusion, Deque, Wave, ZoomText, VoiceOver, TalkBack.
  • Expertise with HTML, ARIA, and semantic markup knowledge.
  • Experience auditing systems for accessibility issues and providing guidance for mitigation.
  • Understanding of user-centered design (UCD) methodologies and responsive web design principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to improve accessibility standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presenting data and analysis clearly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with software like Axe, WebAIM, SiteImprove, and Sitebulb.
  • Experience with browser devtools and accessibility extensions: Axe, WAVE, ARC Toolkit.
  • Experience with testing complex systems using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, jQuery.
  • Experience in accessibility compliance for chatbots, customer communication tools, and print marketing assets.
  • Knowledge of Sitecore, Salesforce, Adobe XD, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience with digital forms and documents remediation.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
