About the Role

The Digital Director is a full-time salaried position based in Columbus, Ohio, responsible for leading digital communications and advocacy efforts. The role involves strategic digital media management, content development, and campaign support, with an emphasis on issue advocacy and political digital communications. The position requires travel, work outside regular hours, and access to personal transportation. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and experienced in digital strategy and advocacy within Ohio's political landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute digital media strategies for political and advocacy campaigns.
  • Manage and optimize digital advertising campaigns, including Facebook ads and other digital platforms.
  • Create and develop content across various digital channels, including social media, websites, and email platforms.
  • Leverage digital tools and trends to enhance campaign outreach and engagement.
  • Manage CRM and email platform systems, with experience in Action Network preferred.
  • Utilize social media platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube effectively.
  • Use Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics, Canva, Hootsuite, and website management tools (Squarespace preferred).
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members involved in digital communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in issue advocacy, organizing, or political digital communications (preferred 5 years).
  • Expertise in digital media, messaging, and content development.
  • Understanding of digital strategy and how to leverage it for campaigns.
  • Political savvy with knowledge of Ohio Statehouse landscape and legislative processes (preferred).
  • Proficiency in managing CRM/email platforms, especially Action Network (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with trend awareness.
  • Knowledge of Facebook Business Manager and Google Analytics.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Hootsuite, and website management (Squarespace experience preferred).
  • Experience running digital advertising campaigns.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Must possess a cell phone, driver's license, and access to a reliable automobile.
  • Willingness to travel in-state and nationally.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of race, class, and gender identities and their intersections.
  • Experience in Ohio campaigns, issue advocacy, or organizing.
