Direct Marketing Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manages a team of Direct Marketing Associates (canvassers) with a hands-on approach, providing motivation and coaching to help the team reach daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
• Recruits, hires, and trains Direct Marketing Associates using cost-effective recruiting tools, partnering with Talent Acquisition when appropriate.
• Oversees all DMA field activities, including training, role playing, daily meetings, field supervision, and motivating team members.
• Creates and develops the culture of the local Proximity Marketing team through personal role modeling and emphasis on company methodology.
• Monitors and coaches team members in the field to ensure adherence to procedures, scripts, and customer service standards.
• Handles administrative tasks such as coordinating canvass logistics, managing permits, maintaining scripts and flyers, and verifying leads.
• Provides information to managers and sales teams about neighborhoods and cities where products and services can be demonstrated to generate qualified leads and appointments.
• Directs and supports the team of Direct Marketing Associates to achieve set goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED); a college degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within canvassing or face-to-face marketing programs.
• Proven ability to develop, motivate, and lead high-performing teams to achieve sales targets.
• Strong coaching skills to train, mentor, and inspire team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to analyze market trends, audience insights, and performance data to develop marketing strategies.
• Strong task prioritization, time management, and budget management skills.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Physical ability to walk 3-5 miles per day and stand for 8 hours.
