Director, Applications System Development

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Leads and develops highly technical teams supporting application system development, production support, and testing.
• Plans, coordinates, and leads software development activities in support of client requests, new sales, strategic initiatives, product development, and internal enhancements.
• Establishes priorities for work requests and provides technical direction to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Ensures methodology adherence and promotes high-quality, on-time work, driving resolutions of issues and roadblocks.
• Participates in the development of divisional plans and communicates progress with teams.
• Evaluates industry and technical trends, contributing to application systems and testing development.
• Manages resource planning to meet performance indicators within budgets and service level agreements.
• Communicates work status to executive leadership and develops strong internal and external relationships.
• Acts as an ambassador and senior subject matter expert in client meetings and sales support.
• Helps build cross-functional teams and collaborates to improve processes and workflows.
• Ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory standards, leads responses to audits, and manages remediation.
• Contributes to strategy, risk management, productivity, and quality initiatives within the team.
• Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and collaborates on process improvements.
• Leads transition to new tools and processes, and may oversee testing teams or vendor relationships.
• Acts as a senior escalation point for technical issues and provides solutions for complex problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited university; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5-6 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in application development, testing, and support activities.
• Strong leadership, technical direction, and project management skills.
• Ability to evaluate industry trends and develop strategic plans.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and team leadership.
• Knowledge of compliance standards and audit processes.

Nice to Have

• Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited university.
• Prior experience with Global Payments, payment, or technology industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Master's Degree preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• 5-6 years of managerial experience.
