About the Role

The Director, Customer Marketing in San Diego at Coca-Cola is responsible for implementing total beverage marketing strategies based on the overall customer strategy, leveraging national marketing initiatives, and developing long-term customer partnerships. The role involves shaping marketing calendars, conducting stewardship reviews, and supporting customer strategies through insights, brand ideas, and internal tools to drive consumer preference. The position requires close collaboration with sales and operations teams to deliver on growth objectives and involves presenting consumer and industry insights to create persuasive selling stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement total beverage marketing strategies founded on the overall customer strategy and leverage national marketing initiatives.
  • Construct and deliver annual marketing calendars that contribute to the customer's long-term planning process.
  • Conduct customer marketing stewardship reviews.
  • Develop long-term customer partnerships with ownership of senior-level marketing relationships.
  • Champion for both customer and Coca-Cola Company imperatives internally and externally to deliver on the Growth Promise.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Operations cross-functional teams to drive the partnership and business growth.
  • Present consumer and industry insights to provide context, implications, and actionable recommendations.
  • Identify and leverage customer-specific and channel marketing opportunities through insights and link them to brand strategy.
  • Provide customer business and opportunity assessments, including competitive analysis and recommendations for expansion and market integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or equivalent education.
  • 5-10 years of business development experience in a consumer-packaged goods company, agency, or foodservice operator, preferably in both customer management and marketing roles.
  • Ability to recognize, understand, and interpret consumer behavior, brand strategies, channel, and customer needs and translate this knowledge into results.
  • Experience with category innovation, digital ecosystem, agency management, and strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated personal leadership skills and influencing ability.
  • Proficiency in using account performance data tools to support plans and opportunities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and storytelling ability.
  • Location in Southern California with the ability to work in the customer's office in San Diego 2-3 days a week.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sales process, account management, customer relationship management (CRM), sales management, and customer knowledge.
  • Skills in pitch presentations, consultative sales management, business insights, sales forecasting, systems thinking, and customer value creation.
