About the Role

The Director of Lifecycle Marketing & User Retention role is crucial in engaging millions of users throughout their journey—from activation to long-term loyalty—driving substantial business growth by strategically reducing churn and enhancing user lifetime value. The role will lead the strategic evolution of our user engagement programs, driving measurable growth through a holistic, data-driven lifecycle marketing framework. This leader will architect personalized user journeys across email, push, SMS, and in-app channels, leveraging AI and automation to scale impact and optimize performance. By embedding experimentation at the core of execution, they will uncover actionable insights that sharpen retention strategies and elevate user value. Success in this role requires deep collaboration across Product, Data, Engineering, and Creative to ensure cohesive, tech-enabled experiences that drive loyalty, reduce churn, and increase lifetime value. Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle marketing strategy across multiple channels like email, push notifications, SMS, in-app messaging, and emerging platforms.
  • Utilize AI prompting to enhance lifecycle strategies and personalize communications.
  • Implement workflow and process improvements via automation tools.
  • Conduct data analysis to derive actionable insights from lifecycle KPIs.
  • Use technology and tools like Braze, Iterable, and customer data platforms for robust campaign management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data, Engineering, and Creative to develop aligned and cohesive user experiences.
  • Launch measurable, data-driven campaigns within the first 6 months that guide users through onboarding, habit formation, and re-engagement.
  • Reduce churn, increase repeat usage, and optimize key KPIs like DAU/WAU, LTV, and retention rates.
  • Implement advanced segmentation and automation strategies, and shape product and content roadmaps.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in consumer lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing at a B2C digital product or internet company.
  • 5+ years in a relevant function such as lifecycle, CRM, or retention.
  • Proven success with measurable business impact through journey optimization.
  • Hands-on expertise with lifecycle tools like Braze, Iterable, OneSignal, and customer data platforms such as Segment or mParticle.
  • Exposure to AI and AI tools for work optimization and efficiency.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with loyalty, rewards, or gamification programs, and familiarity with AI/ML-driven personalization techniques.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in B2C, subscription, or mobile-first environments.
  • Familiarity with loyalty, referral, or gamification programs.
  • Exposure to AI/ML-driven personalization or predictive modeling.
  • Working knowledge of tools like Braze, Segment, Amplitude, or Mixpanel.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in relevant fields such as Marketing or Business (preferred but not required).
